چکیده

It is presented a modality to compute the boundary between the discontinuous (DCM) and continuous (CCM) operating modes in the DC/DC fourth-order PWM converters with parasitic resistances. To reach this goal, an averaged model of the converter has been used. The boundary between DCM and CCM, considered to be the critical load resistance Rcrit, or, equivalently, the critical value of the inductor conduction parameter kctrit, is found as the positive root of a second-degree equation with unknown Rcrit or kctrit. The algorithm carried out and implemented with MATLAB environment allows studying the effect of the parasitic resistances and the coupling of inductors over the boundary Rcrit or ktcrit, the steady-state properties and the external characteristics of the converter. The simulation results show that the parasitic resistances and the inductor coupling change the boundary between the discontinuous and continuous conduction modes of a fourth-order PWM converter. Key-Words: DC/DC fourth-order PWM converters, boundary between CCM and DCM

Averaged Switch Modeling of Boundary Conduction Mode Dc-to-Dc Converters

Averaged switch approach is extended to the modeling of boundary conduction mode (BCM) dc-to-dc converters that operate at the boundary between continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). BCM dc-to-dc converters have smaller inductor size and reduced switching losses compared to CCM, and lower peak current compared to DCM. The large-signal BCM averaged switch model...

A Developed Structure of Step-Up DC/DC Converter by Using Coupled Inductor and Active Clamped Circuit

In this paper, a new structure of step-up dc-dc converter by using coupled inductor and active-clamped circuit is proposed. The proposed converter generates high voltage gain in comparison with the conventional dc-dc converters. Duo to using active-clamped circuit in the proposed topology the voltage stress on main switch is reduced. In addition the zero voltage switching (ZVS) in ON-state of m...

A High Efficiency Low-Voltage Soft Switching DC–DC Converter for Portable Applications

This paper presents a novel control method to improve the efficiency of low-voltage DC-DC converters at light loads. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) converters have poor efficiencies at light loads, while pulse frequency modulation (PFM) control is more efficient for the same cases. Switching losses constitute a major portion of the total power loss at light loads. To decrease the switching losses...

Analysis of New Transformerless dc-dc Converter With High Voltage Gain

In some industries applications such as fuel cells, we must use a high voltage gain dc-dc converters for increasing voltage, but, the conventional converters cannot provide the high voltage gain with increasing duty cycle and the converters efficiency is limited by the equivalent series resistances. For this reason, in this paper, a single switch transformerless high step-up dc-dc converter wit...
